Changes in the material culture on the atolls of Tuvalu and their representation in museums
##The paper... describes several artifacts which were collected in 1987 in the Central Pacific with the special purpose of demonstrating that the Europeanization of the material culture in that region is shown not only by the volume of imported European goods, but also by the creative use of imported materials for the fabrication of both newly invented and traditional commodities. The problems of adequately representing the above mentioned artifacts in an ethnographical exhibition are discussed at length, with particular reference to various publications by Gerd Koch concerned with collecting material culture from the Pacific and museum displays.##
