##The Berlin Museum für Völkerkunde has an extensive collection of ethnographic films. The objects in this particular collection i.e. films are distinctly different from other objects the museum has collected. The informational value of a film is not visible in itself but is revealed only through the active process of screening and viewing. Each viewer interprets a film differently according to his subjective perspective. Edward S. Curtis' "In the land of the headhunters" from 1914, one of the oldest films in the collection, provides a reflection of a century of critical thought in the numerous interpretations that this film has evoked.##
