##The Tibetan oracle
A particular form of prophecy is found in Tibet, the oracle-medium. Certain men and women become possessed by deities and are then able to make prophecies or to give advice. The importance of an oracle depends on the rank and power of the deity concerned. In this short article, possession by dharmapalas is described. This religious practice is accompanied by particular psychic phenomena. Once the medium has fallen into a trance, and is able to respond as though the deity were talking, his or her personality undergoes a marked change. This is a contribution to the discussion about altered states of consciousness and its classification.##
