##The horror of trauma: Interactional aspects in counseling of torture and war victims The infectious character of extreme traumatic events is shown in a metaphorical case study. The impact of several forms of traumatization, but also individual and social protective and risk factors, are presented. The effect of torture and war on families but also on individual helpers and institutions is described and the concept of the vicarious traumatization is highlighted.##
