##Aspects and problems associated with the use of interpreters in psychotherapy with torture victims
With several case examples out of our therapy work with extremely traumatized patients coming from other language and cultural backgrounds, we want to demonstrate that it is insufficient, to consider the interpreters as pure mechanical language mediators. Just as the therapists, the interpreters can also be drawn into the patient's transference and they can develop feelings of counter transference as well. If this is not taken into account, decisive factors for the therapeutical process and also the possibility of the interpreter's vicarious traumatizaton are ignored.##
