Herdsmen's work. The world of camel herdsmen and goats' herdswomen of Timia
Chapters 1-3 discuss research methods and the position of the author in the field setting - his approach of 'deep participation' and 'talking instead of interviewing', watching instead of measuring, and the complementarity of observing and asking. Chapters 4-12 deal with the herdsmen's work (5-8 technical aspects, 9-12 work as agency of persons), nos. 13-17 the herdswomen's work, respectively. While these chapters are person-oriented, chapters 18-19 discuss the institutional aspect of the herdspeople's work - chapter 19 discusses two cases in detail. Finally, chapter 20 explains the theoretical framework - aiming at an 'anthropology of work' which includes the technical and the agency aspect (the latter including trouble, labor, ability, fear, skills, patience, performance, joy, intensity etc.). The appendix includes the itinerary of the author's field trips to the Kel Timia, life courses of camels, staple food of camels, goats' enquête, maps and numerous photographs
