The selling of Panay. Variations of a Philippine myth as an expression of interethnic relations
##This article shows, with several versions of a myth from the Philippines, how these reflect different interests in interethnic relationships. The relations between the ethnic minority and the majority population of the Visayas, are theme of the story but they are differently interpreted. More than that, the myth is also object of scientific discussion in the Philippines, out of which another discourse emerges, a nationalistic interpretation of the events - again in the context of interethnic respectively international relations. The myth has also become part of folklorism as versions show which are published for example in German travel guides.##
