##"Illegitimate Daughters". The distance and affinity between feminism and sociology
The relationship between feminism and sociology is characterized by interesting parallels and interactions, but also by differences and misunderstandings. The comparison shows that both waves of feminism in Germany, the first at the turn of the century as well as the second or new women's movement, not by chance coincide with developments in the modernization process. In social theory these stages are labeled as first and second crises of modern society or as simple and reflexive modernity. While the problems of gender relations played a crucial role for societal analysis in the so-called sociological classics, feminist critique has had until now almost no impact on mainstream thinking in the discipline. Gender difference - not only as a variable but as a structural perspective - seems to have vanished from current sociology and has been replaced by the rhetoric of equality.##
